How Often Should You Visit Your Lake Worth Optometrist?

Eye Exams

If you're not having any problems with your eyes or vision, it can be easy to forget to schedule an eye doctor appointment. In fact, many of our patients frequently ask us how often they need to schedule eye appointments. The answer will depend on your eye health and age. We at Vision City of Lake Worth in Fort Worth, TX, know a lot about when you should visit our optometrist.

When to Get Eye Exams or a Vision Exam

The standard advice that optometrists have given their patients for years is to schedule annual vision exams. While this is still good advice, you can wait a little longer. If you notice no changes in your vision and you have experienced no other major health events, and if you are between the ages of twenty to forty, it can be up to five years. The best way to determine how often you should visit, however, is to talk to our optometrist about your individual eye health and preventative care.

However, if you have experienced or are experiencing any of the following symptoms, it may be a sign you should visit sooner:

Blurry vision: If you're having trouble things that are up close or far away, it's time to come in for an eye exam. This is particularly true for children, who tend to experience vision changes as they grow.

Blind spots: Dark spots or floaters in your field of vision are usually indicative of the optic nerve being unable to process all the visual information that it is receiving. Fortunately, there are often things that can be done.

Eye pain: If your eyes hurt, come see us. While it could be as simple as eye strain, it's also possible that it's a symptom of something more serious.
